The Glasgow Burgerthon - Steak, Cattle & Roll

16:30:00

After a bit of an absence in visiting the next stop on the Burgerthon, we both decided to make time out of our busy schedule when I finished work and head to Steak, Cattle & Roll for some grub. Setting up in Glasgow in 2014, I was excited to see what they had on offer for Part 8 of the Burgerthon (which you should read up on here if you haven't already!!)

In an unfortunate (but turned out to be VERY fortunate!) turn of events, Nice n' Sleazy our original stop 8 have stopped selling burgers. So as an alternative we chose here! And are we glad we did!? Located at the top end of Sauchiehall Street (321 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow G2 3HW), it makes for the perfect spot to grab a bite to eat if you're heading out for a drink up that end of town! After a freeeeezing cold night, walking in we were instantly greeted by the warmth and great smell that they had to offer. And it certainly put is in the mood for a burger.
Not only do they serve some amazing sounding (and tasty) beef burgers, they also offer a range of chicken, vegan, pulled meat, steaks/meat and wraps. No matter who you go with, you should all be able to find something to suit all tastes!

He had: The New Yorker - 9oz burger topped with pastrami, salami & cheddar cheese.
She had: The Godfather - 9oz burger topped with chorizo, melted buffalo mozzarella, pan-fried onions & drizzled with sweet balsamic glaze a side of onion rings
We shared: Basket of fries.

On this occasion, we opted not to go for any starters. Partly on the recommendation of our waiter and also because there's not really many on offer. When you see the portion sizes of the meals, you understand why.
Unlike previous stops, the burger was not dry at all. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to my liking. The pastrami and salami were great additions and really worked with the melted cheese. It was an absolute winner (no, I'm totally not drooling over my keyboard right now...)
The portions. Were. Huge. When I say a basket of chips I mean a basket filled to the absolute brim with perfectly cooked chips. A side of onion rings? Really it was a TOWER. It had easily 10 Massive onion rings piled on top of each other. I'm not a big fan of them so Charlotte tried to make her way through them but I think she instantly regretted it seeing the size of them!
Consider the size if the meals, the price was incredible. In total, it was £30 for 2 burgers, onion rings, fries, a milkshake and a lemonade. We agreed that as we didn't really need the onion rings it was really £25. either way, excellent value and somewhere I will definitely be recommending and visiting  again very soon.

He thought: Quality of burger 4, Variety available 3, Atmosphere & service 4, Value for money 5.

Overall:  33 out of a possible 40.

After being drafted in at last minute, Steak Cattle & Roll takes the lead with only 2 stops left! Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for the final two installments and find out who is crowned top!
